Empowering Communities: Intensified IEC Campaign 2024 | | | |
Alliance India is proud to spotlight the Intensified IEC Campaign 2024, launched by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) on August 12, 2024. This initiative, supported by the Madhya Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (MPSACS) and GSNP+, brought education and awareness to communities across Madhya Pradesh through innovative outreach like rallies, camps, and folk performances. Over two months, the campaign reached 60,646 people, conducted 707 screenings, and provided counselling to thousands, reducing stigma and misinformation around HIV/AIDS.

Advancing Rights: Roundtable on Sex Workers’ Dignity | | | On 25 October 2024, Alliance India, in partnership with the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS) and the All India Network of Sex Workers (AINSW), hosted an impactful roundtable in Chennai. The event marked a significant milestone in advancing the rights and dignity of sex workers, bringing together over 65 participants from various sectors.
Ms R. Seethalakshmi, Project Director of TANSACS, led the discussions, supported by her dedicated team. Chennai’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ms Vanitha, contributed valuable insights on the importance of collaboration between the community and law enforcement to uphold the rights of sex workers. The event also saw active participation from other state government departments, including Social Welfare and Social Defence, who emphasised the need to ensure access to social welfare and health services.
Community leaders from AINSW shared powerful stories of resilience and called for increased training and support for sex workers. The roundtable concluded with the creation of a collaborative roadmap to implement the Supreme Court’s directives, ensuring a more inclusive and respectful environment for sex workers. | | |
Sahas SHG Shines at NCUI Haat Cooperative Fair | | | The Sahas Self-Help Group (SHG) had the honour of participating in the prestigious NCUI Haat Cooperative Fair, held from 24 to 27 October 2024. This annual event, also known as the 'Shankar Mela,' brought together self-help groups and cooperatives from across the country, each showcasing unique crafts, products, and initiatives.
For Sahas SHG, the fair was an invaluable opportunity to display the handmade products created by the transgender community and connect with a larger audience, including stakeholders and peers from diverse backgrounds. Beyond the exhibition, the event fostered a rich environment of shared knowledge, where participants exchanged ideas and learnt best practices.
